PFC Adnire Paul Shuff

12/24/1921 - 01/27/1997

PFC Adnire Paul Shuff joined the U.S. Army on June 5, 1944, in North Cumberland, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.  After basic training, he was assigned to Company B, 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Division as a Carbine MKM Rifleman.  He was stationed in England for six days in December 1944 before being sent to Central Europe, Ardennes Region, where he served under General Anthony McAuliffe and participated in the siege of Bastogne, Belgium, with the group of soldiers who became known as the Battling Bastards of Bastogne.  PFC Shuff was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and a WWII Victory Ribbon.  He was discharged on January 21, 1946, and returned to his wife and children in Connellsville, Pennsylvania.
