Thomas C. McGinnis

Private Thomas Clarence McGinnis, 22 years old, died January 19 of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident in Tesla, Italy, according to a telegram the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McGinnis, of 629 York avenue, received from the War Department. Tuesday night there were no details, the message stating in a letter would follow giving particulars.


Private McGinnis, known to his friends as "Shiney", who would have been 23 years old next April, has been in the armed forces nearly three years. He was with the Antitank Company, 110th Regiment, when it was Federalized February 17, 1941, at State Armory. Last April, however he volunteered for overseas duty and was sent to North Africa with the 45th Division.


A former student of Immaculate Conception High School, he is survived by his parents, one brother, Private First class John McGinnis who is stationed at Camp Carson, Colo., with the Army Engineers, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Reed at home, Mrs. Agnes Armen of Uniontown, Mrs. Francis Haas of Dawson and Mrs. Catherine Watherston of Camden, New Jersey.
